A Scenic 20K Adventure: St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse Trail Run

Sometimes, all you need is a good trek to reset your mind and body, and that’s exactly what this weekend’s adventure gave me! A 20K trail run through the stunning landscapes of St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse turned out to be the perfect mix of exercise, nature, and fun. If you're looking for an escape from city life, this trek should be on your list.

The Journey Begins

My friend and I started our day early, leaving Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris at around 7:45 AM on February 18, 2025. Our destination? The meeting point at Défert-Rochereau Rocher station. We met our trekking group there and hopped on the RER-B train at exactly 8:25 AM, heading towards St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse—the last stop on the line.

By 9:00 AM, we arrived at the station, ready to hit the trail. Just a few minutes into the trek, we found ourselves deep in the forest, facing an unexpectedly steep climb. With no predefined path, we had to make our way through the thick bushes—at a crazy 70-degree incline! It was intense but incredibly thrilling.

Trekking Through Nature

Once past the steep section, the rest of the trek was mostly flat with some mild inclines. We kept up a steady pace of around 4.5–5 km per hour, enjoying the fresh air and scenic surroundings.

Around midday, we reached an old monastery, unfortunately closed, but it provided the perfect spot for a lunch break. My friend had packed a great meal, which made the break even more enjoyable. After resting for about 30 minutes, we set off again, heading towards St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse Château (Castle). The château was quite small, but still worth a quick stop for pictures. Our group leader even captured a few shots of all of us together!

Wrapping Up the Trek

By 2:30 PM, we had completed the trek and returned to St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse train station. We boarded the train back to Paris, reaching our Cité Universitaire rooms by 4:00 PM. In total, we covered 21.6 km—quite an achievement! By the end, my legs were exhausted, and walking around the house felt like a challenge.

The best part? This whole adventure cost me just 4 euros! We booked the trek through the PowerHikers group on Meetup.com, and I highly recommend them for anyone looking to explore beautiful trails around Paris.

If you're up for a weekend adventure that combines fitness, nature, and good company, give this trek a shot—you won’t regret it!
